Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Pending adoption.
We have a transport set up to NorCal and OR leaving here from SoCal on 9/07/24 and we would love to add Kai to our trip for the right family!
Meet Kai! He is a 6 month old purebred golden retriever. He is red in color, and absolutely beautiful.
I don't have an exact weight on him just yet as his exam with our vet is set for August 27, but once I have his weight it'll be updated here. He is tall, and lean for sure, and appears to be at a healthy weight.
He is doing phenomenal at house training, and understands the word "outside."
He is crate trained as well, and sleeps in his crate at night without any accidents whatsoever. He will bark in the crate if he needs to use the restroom so you can let him outside, which I love and appreciate his communication skills at this age because it has made training very easy.
He is pretty good on leash too, and is learning to stay by your side. Training will need to be continued in his next home, but he is off to an amazing start and will make taking over a breeze. He is very food motivated as well, so carrying around a pouch full of some of his fave treats helps tremendously because he has learned being called a good boy comes with a sweet treat ♥️
He is amazing with ALL dogs and cats alike. He is VERY playful, and really enjoys having other animal friends, but if you don't have any other animals, he would be okay being the only dog friend to his human/family as long as you have the time to hang out with him, and show him a good time 😂
I promise; he is not overly needy whatsoever, but does love knowing he is a priority in your life, but that's a given with any animal, they all deserve happiness however that looks to them, and he just happens to know how that looks so there is no fooling this handsome guy 🙃
He is GREAT on road trips, so adventures will always be welcomed by him no matter the distance!
He is phenomenal at bath time, and loves his days spent with his groomer.
He is a TOTAL water lover. He LOVES to lay in our pool and just soak on the steps. Bathtime is probably one of his favorite times because the water is nice and warm, and kept warm to his liking ☺️
He is easy to love, so don't pass this sweet guy by!
He is kind hearted, loving, doting, affectionate, playful (yes had to remind you how playful he is 😊) and sooooo smart (he has already mastered sit, stay, and come.) The world is definitely brighter with him in it, and I believe in my heart he knows that too ❤️
His adoption fee is on our website at breadoflifek9refuge.org under his adoption listing.
When we took him in, we also spayed and neutered his parents for his family that surrendered him.
They wanted to keep him out of all of the puppies because of how amazing his demeanor was, but as he matured, they noticed how much their time was split between all 3 dogs, and just didn't have what each deserved adding a pup into the mix so they reached out to us to take him in. They were not breeders, their female ended up pregnant before she could be spayed, so when we came in, we took care of that for them so they didn't have to worry about anymore pregnancies.
His adoption fee also covers his own vetting.
He is to young to be neutered, as it's recommended for his growth plates to fully close prior to sterilization so he will be going home on a neuter contract. He will be microchipped, have his 1 year vaccines completed, and have a health certificate that goes home with him from our vet stating he is healthy. It also helps cover the time, care, grooming costs, and training we have done with him personally since with us here.
