My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello! My name is Millie and I'm a 5 year old miniature poodle, weighing in at 14 lbs. I came to Zoe's House when I was surrendered by a breeder who no longer needed me. I've been hanging out with my awesome foster family for a while so they could get to know my personality in order to help me find my perfect forever home.

My foster Mom says I've been super friendly and happy since leaving my old life behind. I love everyone I meet! Kids, adults and other dogs really make me happy. I've never been exposed to kitties but I could be cat tested for the right family. It would be great if my forever home had doggies for me to play with but I would also be fine being your one and only.

My ideal family would be one that would give me LOTS of attention. I thrive on cuddling, HUGS and being close to my humans as much as possible. I really want a forever family that lets me sleep in bed with them and allows me on their couch to cuddle. I don't like being alone so a family where someone is home more often than not would be great. When my foster family leaves the house, I will sometimes cry loudly so an apartment or attached house probably wouldn't be best for me.

I'm housebroken and will stand by the door when I need to go out. Please remember that regression is normal in new environments. I do not need a home with a fence since I'm fine being taken out to the yard on a leash. I do need more practice going for walks around the neighborhood so I hope my forever family will work on that with me.

Zoe's House has made sure I got spayed, my teeth professionally cleaned and I'm up to date on vaccines. I have a clear bill of health and am ready to move on to my forever! I'm being fostered in Blandon, PA so any approved applicants may need to travel here with their dogs before an adoption is approved. If you think you can be my forever family, please apply on zoeshouserescue.com .

More about this rescue

Who We Are:
Zoe's House, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal welfare group based out of Sinking Spring,PA. We are comprised solely of volunteers that generously volunteer their time, their homes and their hearts. We are dedicated to rescuing homeless, neglected or abandoned animals from high kill shelters or from owners who can no longer care for them. We provide the animals with loving foster care, veterinary treatment and rehabilitation until we are able to pair them with compatible and loving forever homes. At times we also offer permanent sanctuary to those with special or medical needs and that are considered unadoptable.

Zoe's House serves as a resource to our community and to our adopters by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership, the importance of spay/neuter, behavior training, nutrition, puppy mill awareness, heartworm preventative and breed education. Our organization also networks with other shelters and rescues. We try to assist other organizations when possible.

Zoe’s House is not federally funded, and relies solely on donations to continue to rescue. Although we are not breed specific, the need to save Dobermans, Rottweilers, German Shepherds and Pitbulls is ever growing; therefore, we have focused primarily on saving the lives of our beloved and majestic strong breeds.

What We do:
There are many people involved in the rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of each dog we take in. Our rescue effort starts with the initial intake request for a dog. Whether this be at a shelter of from an individual in the community, we try to gather as much information as we can. We then pickup or transport the dog to safety in rescue. At this time we administer immediate veterinary care to determine the health of the dog and ensure the animal has proper immunizations. We also have bloodwork done for a heartworm check, lyme, fecal and sometimes a blood panel depending on the age and health of the dog. The dog remains in "in-home" foster care and becomes a part of the fosters family for an undefined period of time. We evaluate the dog and work on basic manners and obedience. At times we have dogs for a longer duration due to health and/or age. The dogs in our care come with us to adoption events, home screenings, and ultimately permanent placement. Zoe's House then provides post-adoption follow-up and support and welcomes the new family to the "Zoe's House Family!" We strive to stay in close contact with all of our adopters to ensure the transition and life long relationship continues to be magical. We remain dedicated to the principal that we never want one of our rescues to end up in a shelter or in a home that does not provide a responsible and loving environment for the life of the animal.

We truly believe that one dog at a time... we are making a difference!
