For Adopt a Pet and the PEDIGREE® brand, October is all about finding homes for dogs in shelters. Adopt this month for a PEDIGREE® Wet Food Pouch and a chance to win a Homecoming-style photo shoot and shelter donation.
This helps Somerset-Pulaski County Humane Society with pet care costs.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
O'Henry is as sweet and lovable as the candy bar - a long-haired orange tabby.
His paws indicate he is going to grow into a big cat. He is serious about mealtimes and snacks. He is a big talker. He is cuddly and loving, playful and energetic. His favorite toys are the spring toys but he also likes wand chasers and laser lights. He is an excellent bug catcher!
O'Henry does well with all the adult cats and kittens and mostly ignores the dogs. He really freaks out over loud noises like the lawn mower, vacuum or airplanes, so he'll need a well insulated, indoor-only home to protect him from scary outside noises. He's not yet been kid-tested . He would guess he'd be ok with children, but like all young kittens, SPCHS will not permit O'Henry to be adopted by a family with children under 6 years old.
O'Henry has had all age appropriate vaccines and has been treated for parasites, he will be neutered and micro-chipped when he is old enough. (If he is adopted before he is old enough to be neutered, SPCHS will provide a voucher to cover the cost of neutering.)

After you complete an application, there are several things that we will do:
1. We will check your personal references. Please be sure to list two personal references and include a phone number and an email address. (form asks for one; but I like two)
2. If you do not own your place of residence, we will call your landlord or leasing office. Please check with them first to learn about their pet policy.
3. We will call your veterinarian for a reference. We are looking for a history of annual exams, vaccines maintained routinely, annual heartworm tests and monthly preventatives. We require the following:
* All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered.
* If your pet is not up to date on vaccines, please do not submit the application until you have scheduled an appointment with the vet to get your pets current on their vaccines.
4. If you are a 1st-time pet owner, please include the name and phone number of the veterinarian you plan to use.
5. Be sure to call your Vet(s), giving them permission to speak with us.
6. We may need to do a home visit prior to approving your application, or post-adoption.
If these policies and practices are not acceptable, please do not apply.
