Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Minnie is about 4 years old, 11 lbs and at a good weight, has a short black and tan coat and looks like a miniature pinscher (at least that's our best guess). Her tail is docked, and her ears cropped. Unlike most dogs, she actually enjoys bath time and is basically an easy-care dog. She is very loving, sweet, loyal and protective with her humans and she has never bitten, even when scared and extremely vulnerable bursting with babies in her tummy.
Now that her pups are adopted, she plays with her foster mom's dogs a lot. She is definitely the leader and the boss. We think she would do best in a home with no other dog competition for lap time as she 'adores' being in your lap and the center of your attention. The weather has taken a chilly turn, and we have discovered that she likes wearing little sweaters/shirts to fend off the cold. Especially at nighttime.
Minnie will bark if she hears strangers approach, but a firm 'NO BARKING' with a finger wiggle usually stops her. She is a great security system as she doesn't miss a thing. She will bark at delivery people and the pool and gardening help, but she only barks. She will stop if you pick her up when strangers are within eyesight. She is steadily improving with reminders that barking is not needed. She seems to accept strangers somewhat quickly if allowed to be petted etc. Her foster mom was amazed how quickly she decides she likes someone and begs for lap time. She loves lap time!
We enjoy Minnie and believe she will make a great companion, especially for someone who wants a lap dog companion. She does play with toys and steals socks. What is it about socks that dogs like?
If you are interested in meeting and possibly adopting Minnie, the first step is to submit an adoption application. Please go to our website www.k9bestfriendsforever.com and click on "Adopt" which will take you to our online application form.
