My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Muah is available for adoption in a foster home. If you're interested in adopting, please email us at sdcadoptions@sdhumane.org and we will arrange for you to meet Muah.

How Muah arrived:
Muah was brought in as a stray by a community member.

Why Muah might be the one for you:
We'd like to introduce you to Muah. Simply put, we think this pittiepotamus is *chef's kiss*. So it's only fitting that she'd be named after the sound of such a kiss, wouldn't you agree? When this velvet house hippo first came into our care, the poor thing had ear infections in both ears and severe skin dermatitis. Fortunately, our medical team was able to help alleviate her pain and discomfort with special baths and medication, and now this kissable gal is feeling (and looking) so much better! (...Or should we say, so Muahch better?) Her glow up has been nothing short of jaw-dropping and Muah has been the epitome of sweet during her time with us. She has been friendly with all, easy to handle (even for her baths) and she's consistently gifted us with wags and kisses. And nobody better dare tell her that 59 lbs is too big to be a lap dog because we wouldn't have it any other way! It's probably pretty clear by now that we're all head over heels for Muah, and once you meet her, we are certain you will be, too. So what do you say? Are you ready to give this sweetheart all of the love and kisses she deserves?

At SDHS:
Muah has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered and is now ready for her new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
