FOSTER UPDATE 08-17-2024 Sherman is doing good in our home with our dog and us. He is house-trained and likes going to new places but takes a moment to get in the car. He sleeps through the night, loves playing with toys and eating. Sherman will need an experienced owner to lead him because he can be stubborn and barks to demand what he wants. He also doesn’t know how to go down stairs and prefers not to be picked up, but once he knows you, he will jump in your lap and snuggle. Even though he is five he has a good bit of energy and needs to be consistently walked and exercised. He would do best in an ADULT HOME WITHOUT STAIRS and with someone who can continue training and provide him with some nice long, brisk walks for his energy. He prefers his humans not to leave him alone for long periods.
Sherman came to PRBJ after his owner's health caused her to be hospitalized for a very long period of time, leaving Sherman alone in the home. The landlord was contacted to do a wellness check on the dog and found the dog in very poor condition. The landlord had to get Sherman some medical treatment, and the owner decided it was in the dog's best interest to surrender him to the rescue and find a forever home. Sherman needs an adult only home or possibly one with older teens. He enjoys long brisk walks and then sitting next to his human or on their lap.
