This is Sergio! He's got a story to tell... He was found on the side of the road-just about to give up when a caring passerby stopped to help him. After a trip to the vet with his 'finder', it was determined that his femur was out of the socket. After arriving at the shelter and having a more thorough vet examination, it was determined that he also had 'pellets' several places in his body. Fast forward 6 weeks-He's had his surgery and is doing great. In fact, he is quite spunky and is regaining the use of his leg more each day. Since he's been in 'rehab quarantine', he needs a little catching up with his social skills, but no doubt he'll get there. Please contact the shelter if you'd like more information on adopting. --See more on all the ODCHS pets on our Facebook page: Ozark-Dale County Humane Society

After choosing the pet you are interested in, we require an adoption application to ensure your environment is a good fit for the pet you have chosen. When you have met and made the final decision to adopt the pet, we require an adoption contract to make certain you will be a good caregiver. Adoption fees are $125.00 for dogs/puppies and $75.00 adoption fee for cats/kittens. All age eligible pets are spayed or neutered prior to completion of the adoption process. If the pet is too young for surgery, you will be provided a date for surgery per the adoption contract. (Included in adoption fee.) If you choose to use your own vet, we will reimburse surgery fees up to the amount our vet is charging. Dogs are heart worm tested, on preventative, spay/neutered (if of age), and have vaccinations up to date, and micro-chipped. Cats are Feline Leukemia/Aids tested, spay/neutered (if of age), vaccinations up to date, and micro-chipped upon request. We also require a vet reference and/or home visit.
