My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet the gorgeous Gypsy! This sweet girl came to us struggling with some medical issues, but after months of determination and care, we've found the right treatment for her. Gypsy has been diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), which means she will need lifelong medications and a special prescription diet to keep her happy and healthy.

Now that her health is under control, Gypsy is showing off her sassy Bengal personality! She loves her people but prefers gentle pats on her own terms and definitely does not want to be picked up-she's an independent lady at heart. Though relatively quiet for a Bengal, when she does speak, she certainly makes her presence known! Gypsy is very adamant about being the only pet in her forever home.

*Gypsy is currently awaiting a dental surgery and is available for foster-to-adopt local to the South Okanagan area.*

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
