My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.

* If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.

This dog will be at Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, October 19th from 12-3pm or until adopted. If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.

Adoption Fee: $600

Ginger Spice is a 4-5 month old Miniature Schnauzer- Klee Kai mix (like a smaller Husky mix). She currently weighs about 20lbs and is expected to be in the 35-40lbs range. Looking for a truly medium size dog? She's the one! She has a less shedding coat for those who are looking for a dog that doesn't shed as much.

Ginger (F): Ginger is an adventurous and curious puppy who can’t wait to bring the zest to her forever family! She loves to explore the world around her and it is absolutely hilarious to watch her brain work through problems in real time (why do sticks keep appearing in my yard)! Ginger loves cuddles and she loves her people. She would adore a home who wants to check out all that California has to offer: from sunny beaches to shady forests to banks of snow. Ginger is the class clown of the bunch, making goofy little noises even when she sleeps. She has the perfect level of mischief while still being as sweet as sugar. Ginger is always the winner at hide and go seek, finding places to squeeze into where her siblings can’t find her. If you’re ready for an infusion of flavor, pick up some Ginger today!

The puppies start their morning around 6-7 AM with a trip outside to practice going potty outside. They tumble back in for breakfast and then get some one-on-one cuddle time for a bit before they are ready for their morning nap. After they nap, they cycle between playing with toys, chasing each other around the house, and investigating every blade of grass in the yard. They have lunch around 12 PM and then spend more time playing and sleeping through the afternoon. Once the family comes home from the day, they have their dinner at 5 PM. In the evening, the puppies spend some more time playing before they start to wind down from the day and get some more cuddles. They sleep in a pen overnight.

The Spice puppies have been well socialized with dogs in their foster homes. Their foster homes have been hard at work introducing them to people of all ages. Adoptive families should be prepared to continue training and socialization to ensure the pups are well-rounded adults. We know these puppies will have you falling in love from first glance because how could you not! Don’t delay, add one of these Spices to your spice rack today!

The Spice puppies are only an option for homes that have owned a dog of their own in the last three years. Kids in the home should be over the age of 7.

More about this rescue

We are passionate folks who love dogs and love people! We strive to make the most appropriate match between human and canine. Because our dogs live in foster homes we know about their temperament and personality and therefore can help families and individuals decide if the dog is a good match or not. We are excited to help people find the right pooch for them and look forward to meeting great folks and welcoming them into the DPS Family.
