Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Smart, sassy, enthusiastic and sweet - these are the words that best describe Olive, a 6 year old who appears to be an Australian Cattle Dog/ Red Heeler mix and has the following skills:
Knows basic commands ("sit", "down", "touch", "shake") and waits for the "okay" for food. She walks reasonably well on a leash and knows "with me". She will pull if the sees a squirrel or another dog and is working on this in her foster home.
Olive is completely crate trained. She goes in without any fuss and doesn't bark when in it. (She sleeps through the night in it.) Olive has never had an "accident" in the house and has never shown any destructive behavior. She has been left inside, alone, without being crated with no issues.
Olive is comfortable riding in a car - she jumps up into the backseat of her foster mom's 4Runner; equally happy in the sedan.
Very food motivated.
Other things to know:
Olive has short hair, but she does shed. She is not afraid of storms. She loves to snuggle into you on the sofa but she also seems happy to just occupy the same room as the humans in the house.
Olive has had positive interactions with other dogs off-leash, but has very little experience with children.
She loves to run and explore the yard - a fenced yard would be ideal. Olive has recently learned to catch/ retrieve a ball and return it to your hand. She is waiting for someone to teach her some more tricks!
