My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Come meet Marilou! She is a super sweet, snuggly girl who is about 1-1.5 years old! She appears to be a mix of beagle, and possibly boxer, but who knows without a DNA test! Marilou is perfect sized at 43lbs at her last vet visit.

She is the perfect mix of playful young pup, and couch lounging snuggler! She has been fostered with kids and does great with children, dogs, and is very curious but has done well with a cat as well! She loves sniff walks, playing with toys, is learning fetch, and giving sweet little kisses to her people! She learns quickly, and already has learned sit, lay down, come, leave it, and though sometimes a teenager, is overall a great listener!

She sometimes is a little shy and nervous in new situations and with new people, but she warms up fairly quickly and is getting more confident daily. She would do great with a house with a confident dog to teach her the ropes, as she hasnt met a dog she doesnt like yet!

If you think Marilou may be the perfect pup for you, apply at www.caninecollective.org.

Our adoption process takes several steps and cannot be completed in one day. All of our volunteers work full time and assist the rescue in their spare time. Please allow 2-3 business days for a response.

* Applicants must be willing to make a ten plus year commitment to their new family member.

* Applicants must commit to daily exercise, walks, trips to the dog park or play in the back yard. A well exercised dog is a happy well behaved dog!

* Applicants living in a rental property must provide proof of pet policy from landlord.

* Applicants must provide a veterinarian reference and if there are existing dogs in the household. All pets must be spayed/neutered and current on all shots and heartworm medication.

*Please allow at least a 7-14 day adjustment period for your new dog. Rescue dogs go thru a lot of changes and need a few days to get used to their new surroundings and adjust. Adopting a dog should be a serious commitment, so please be willing to work out the kinks. Our dogs aren't perfect but with proper training and guidance they make awesome, loving pets.

*Our adoption fees vary based on the age and medical needs of the dogs.
