Mater, named after Tow Mater from the Cars franchise, is loyal, funny, honest and curious. He is friendly and has an approachable nature. Mater has fun batting at balls with bells and wrestling with beanie babies. He is inquisitive about everything around him, learning new things by using his ears, whiskers, smells and his human companion's voice. Mater loves to cuddle and nap with you, and he bonds through treats! His ideal home is with an individual, couple or family; a home with a stable and predictable environment, a home where furniture is not rearranged, food dishes stay in the same location and creating Mater's personal safe area. He should do well with a sighted kitty buddy like his friend Lincoln or a cat or dog that is not hyper and is okay wearing a collar with a bell that will make it easy for Mater to follow or find. Mater is a stocky orange tiger tabby with white. As of August 2024, Mater is 3 months old. His retinas ruptured resulting in vision loss. Mater's eyes were removed to prevent infection and pain. He has healed and currently is not on medication. Mater's immediate treatment plan is to be adored and pampered!!
Friends of Jackson County Animal Shelter Pets (FJCASP) is a foster-based rescue for dogs and cats. All pets are in a home environment cared for by a foster person who provides temporary care until the pet can be placed in a permanent home. Friends of Jackson County is an all-volunteer, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization.
