Buddy (male/black) and Chewy (female/tan) are a brother/sister pair of 5 1/2 year old Shih Tzus. They have been together since birth and need to be adopted as a pair. They lived with an elderly couple who are no longer able to take care of them. Both dogs know their name and love attention, especially Chewy who loves a good belly rub. There is normal barking (doorbell ringing, etc) and I wouldn’t consider them ‘yippy’ dogs. We have walked them together on leashes and they do really well with no tangling/pulling. We are working with them to eat kibble out of their bowls since they’ve been fed ‘people’ food for the past few years. Both dogs are fine with other dogs and lived with a cat previously (the cat was kept in a separate area of the house so there wasn’t much socialization).
Their next home should have someone home most of the day (retired/work from home) and be prepared to have the dogs for 10+ years. You should be able to have them groomed on a regular basis (every 4-6 weeks).
