Meet Lucy: Your Future Best Friend!

Breed: Australian Sheppard/Mini Poodle
Age: 3 Years
Size: Medium 20-25 lbs
Color: Tri-Color (Black, White, and grey)
Temperament: Friendly, Energetic, and Loyal

About Lucy:

If you’re looking for a playful and affectionate companion, Lucy is the Aussie Doodle for you! At just 3 years old, Lucy is still brimming with puppy energy and curiosity, making her the perfect partner for outdoor adventures and daily walks. She also loves to hang out on the couch with her people and relax every night making her the perfect combination of energetic and chill. Her merle coat is not only stunning but also low to NO-shedding, making her a great choice for people with allergies.

Lucy is a spirited dog with a strong personality and a heart full of love. She is not a good fit for a first time dog owner and will need someone with knowlege and experience with a dog that has food and resource guarding. While she may exhibit some resource guarding around her food and toys, Lucy has a lot of potential to thrive in the right environment. She’s looking for an experienced owner who can provide her with the patience, understanding, and structure she needs to flourish. She is stubborn by nature and has some separation anxiety, so she can be a little destructive if not entertained or with her people. Lucy can also be quite the escape artist, so a fenced yard would be a major plus.  With the right training and socialization, Lucy has the potential to become a well-adjusted and loving companion.  Consistency is key with Lucy!

Lucy is incredibly loyal and forms strong bonds with her family, always ready to offer a wagging tail and loving cuddles.  She loves car rides, camping, going to the beach or wherever her people are traveling to.  She does great in a car, tent or camper, but does not do well with crates.  Lucy would be happiest being around her people as much as possible.

What Lucy Needs:

  • Exercise: Lucy thrives with regular physical activity. She enjoys running, hiking, and playing fetch, so an active household would be ideal.  After some exercise, Lucy is more than willing to be a couch potato as well!

  • Training: Lucy would benefit from an owner who has experience with dogs showing mild-aggressive behavior and is committed to ongoing training and socialization. A consistent routine and clear boundaries will help her feel secure and understand what is expected of her. She is eager to please and responds well to positive, consistent reinforcement.  She is very food oriented, so treats will make the training process easier.

  • Companionship: Lucy would be happiest in a home where she can be part of the family’s daily life and the center of attention. She loves being involved in activities and will appreciate a family that gives her plenty of attention and love. Lucy would do best in a home with only older children as she can be very nippy when playing and is protective of her food and toys.

Lucy needs a home without young children. While she does well with other dogs in a public environment, she would be best in a home where there would not be any competitive tendencies when it comes to food or high value rewards. She has also lived with rabbits and chickens, but she does have some herding tendencies. She definitely thinks she is Alpha dog and is more interested in being the center of attention in your life than she is in making friends with other dogs, but she does enjoy playing.

If Lucy sounds like the perfect fit for your home, come meet her today and see for yourself how this delightful Aussie Doodle could make your life even more joyful
