My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Micky H!

Breed: Lab Mix
Estimated DOB: 06/10/2022
Sex: Male, neutered
Weight: 50 lbs
Up to date on all age-appropriate vaccinations

Things to Know About Micky:
- Rescued from Mississippi after 469 days in a shelter
- Affectionate—he follows you around, gives hugs, loves to snuggle when tired, and is starting to enjoy belly rubs
- Mickey has made great strides with human touch and attention—he now welcomes pets and loves getting lots of attention!
- Doing well with his foster’s husband and two teenage girls
- Takes time to warm up to new people but is friendly at events when approached slowly. Cautious when other dogs approach from behind but enjoys interacting with them
- Medium energy—playful, loves to "walk himself" on the leash, and is very sweet
- Loves all toys, especially small ones, and enjoys fetch, puzzle toys, and snuffle balls
- Mickey loves being both outdoors and indoors; he’s happy no matter where he is!
- Leash training is going well, though he pulls when nearing home. Walks with a harness and usually stays by your side
- He’s learning some basic commands and has “sit” down, though he sometimes lays down instead.
-Mickey has a fun personality that makes us laugh regularly with his quirky behaviors, like pulling his bedding out of his crate and barking at random things like the TV.
- He’s settling down nicely, balancing periods of higher activity with moments where he’s comfortable just chilling out and entertaining himself.
- Crate-trained! He goes in easily with a treat, stays quiet, keeps his crate clean, and sleeps from 10:30 p.m. to 6 a.m.
- Comfortable being left alone outside of the crate; he’ll either play with toys or relax by the door
- He’s doing great with housetraining and is housebroken on a regular schedule.
- Dog-friendly and would thrive with another dog
- Cat-friendly
- Looking for a loving, committed forever home to give him the care and love he deserves

Additional adoption info

When you adopt from TLC, you become a part of our family. We will be there for you with continued support even after adoption.

At TLC, our adoption process is simple and straight-forward. We want you to find a new family member and we want our rescue dogs to find their forever home. There is no cost to apply and we do not require you to put a deposit on a dog to be able to meet a dog. An application does not obligate or limit you to adopting the dog listed on the application.

Applications are carefully considered and processed by our applications team. After submission, an adoption counselor will contact you to conduct an interview where together you will assess your needs and work to find the right match. We speak to veterinary references, landlords and personal references before approving an application.

More about this rescue

To Love a Canine Rescue, Inc. (TLC) is a non-profit, all breed, 100% foster-based, no-kill rescue operating in Chester County, PA. Our mission is to rescue and find permanent homes for abandoned, stray and surrendered dogs in order to minimize the needless euthanizing of animals.

We have a passion for saving dogs as well as a thirst to educate the community on reducing the number of dogs needing rescue. From puppies to seniors, there is a perfect dog out there for everyone. We pride ourselves on making the right connection between dog and family in order to give our dogs their final, joyful, loving home. Ultimately, our wish would be for empty shelters so no dog is left behind… until they all have a home.

TLC is designated as a 501(c)(3) by the IRS. Donations made to TLC are fully tax-deductible as allowed by law. The official registration and financial information of TLC may be obtained from the Pennsylvania Department of State by calling 1-800-732-0999. Registration does not imply endorsement.
