Loretta Lynn is an adorable female Dilute Tortoiseshell/Tabby kitten who was born in our shelter on April 10, 2024. Her mother (June) had arrived the previous day and thankfully was settled into a nice blanket-filled cage when she gave birth to five beautiful kittens. Our HSOV kennel techs chose the names Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, Miranda Lambert, Morgan Wallen, and Tyler Childers for the newborns.
Momma June was accompanied by a younger Bobtail/Dilute Tortoiseshell kitty (Priscilla) who is surely her 'daughter' from a previous litter and (sigh) Priscilla also gave birth to five kittens on April 13th. Four of her kittens survived but the fifth one was stillborn.
Fortunately for them, HSOV volunteer/foster mother Wendy Jo Irvin offered this blended family of two mothers and their nine kittens a temporary home on May 4, 2024 where they could raise their babies in a loving home environment instead of a small shelter cage.
Loretta Lynn has a gray tabby/dilute tortoiseshell short smooth coat, a long ringed tail, and a sweet kitten face with dark golden eyes, a gray/brown nose, a dusting of white on her muzzle, and long white whiskers.
Loretta was given wormer on May 4, 2024. She was given vaccinations and wormer on May 24, 2024 and was given booster vaccines on June 11, 2024.
Loretta's mother was combo tested on May 4, 2024 and was negative for feline leukemia, FIV, and heartworm ... which is also good news for her kittens.
These pictures of Loretta Lynn were taken on August 16, 2024 when her foster mother brought both sets of kittens in for their 'big boy/big girl photos'. Loretta has a lovely, rather demure, personality and was a joy to photograph as she posed so elegantly beside the wicker basket filled with autumn leaves.
Loretta Lynn was spayed on August 13, 2024 and was also given rabies vaccine. She weighed 3 lbs that day. Loretta is ready to find a home of her very own. We'd love to see her adopted with one of her siblings (or cousins) since kittens do so much better in pairs.
Thanks to their foster mother for taking the most wonderful care of these delightful kittens (and their two awesome mothers). They have definitely been showered with love and attention and will arrive 'pre-spoiled' in their new homes (smile).
Loretta Lynn and her sister (Dolly Parton) were adopted together on September 14, 2024. Unfortunately they were returned on December 21, 2024 and are looking for another home. It seems that the girls were a little too active and were getting into mischief (chewing Christmas light cords and being 'trash bandits') ... So they may need some close supervision or enrichment toys/activities to keep them on their best behavior.
