My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Schroeder spent a month in a shelter in Texas before catching the eye of one of NorthStar's rescuers. She took him into her home and he went right outside and did his business as if he'd lived in a house in his previous life. We were happy to discover that he actually IS housebroken!

Schroeder is 7 years old and a little guy at only 10 pounds. He gets along well with both dogs AND cats. He is on the shy side right now but he is easy to pet and to touch. He has been completed vetted, including getting a "dental" & being neutered. Schroeder also has a heart murmur that requires no medication. He is now totally ready to find his forever home - he'll be heading to NJ in the next few weeks!

In a very very small number of situations, a home check may be needed if we have any questions or concerns after processing the application.

A meet and greet will be arranged for approved applicants with you and your entire family including your current pets.

Adult Dog: 375.00
Senior Dog: 200.00
Puppy: 375.00 + 100.00 refundable spay/neuter deposit
All adopters must complete application and be approved by the rescue.

In many areas of the country, especially in the South, the situation for animals is desperate: Chained outside and starving, homeless and running loose, or just simply no longer wanted and abandoned in an overburdened and underfunded facility that can’t possibly take another. For these animals, there is not much hope…except to look in the night sky for the North Star, their only way out. We are a group of passionate volunteers committed to saving these innocent dogs and finding them a new forever home. NorthStar Pet Rescue was founded in 2017, and although we might be a relatively new name among New Jersey animal rescues, you may recognize some of us from the work we’ve done volunteering with other rescues to help animals over the past decade. We are 100% dedicated to operating in an safe, transparent, and ethical manner and to ensuring the best veterinary practices are followed with regards to the care and transport of our animals.
