Meet Dior, a 79-pound bundle of joy who’s as stylish as his name suggests! This handsome black-coated Labrador Retriever mix is not only a head-turner but also a complete sweetheart. Affectionate, curious, and happy-go-lucky, Dior loves pets, cuddles, and a good squeaky toy.
Dior was surrendered after his owner passed away unexpectedly and their family couldn’t take him in long-term. He’s been well-loved and previously lived with other dogs. His previous home described him as `very house trained, smart, and quick to learn.` Dior is highly treat-motivated and has mastered commands like `sit` and `shake,` especially if peanut butter is involved!
With medium energy, Dior enjoys zooming around the yard and going for a jog, but also enjoys relaxing in the shade or leaning in for pets and scratches. He’s great on a leash with his easy walker harness and loves sniffing his surroundings - he`s very curious about the world. Whether you’re tossing tennis balls (he’s an excellent chaser, though still working on returning them) or offering him a squeaky toy, Dior is all in for the fun.
Ready for a new best friend? Dior is! He’s looking for someone ready to explore life with him by their side. With his perfect mix of charisma, fun, affection, and adventure, Dior is truly a gem—come meet him today!

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day! For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites. For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.
Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older
