My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Apple Juice is that one unforgettable teacher you had whose patience, kindness and encouragement somehow changed your life. Yes, she's an elder chi-terrier mix missing quite a few teeth, but that really doesn't matter. If you adopt her, her name is still going to come up in your Academy Award acceptance speech. A sweet softie with velvet rolls under her chin and prim white Keds on dainty feet, Apple Juice is comfy with other dogs and always available for a curative hug or snuggle. A fast and forever friend, she's also prepared to hear what's on your mind without trying to fix it. Her vision isn't perfect, but she finds her way around just fine. Just watch her tiptoe straight into your heart the minute you meet her.

Here's some notes from her foster:

Are you ready to be enchanted by an opal-eyed beauty? Like most pups, AJ adores belly rubs, laptime, mealtime, and treat time, is a champion tail-wagger, and consistently steals your spot on the bed. Unlike most dogs, however, she is quick to cuddle with folks from six to ninety-six, always knowns exactly what's going on, and that sweet face? It is softer than velvet.

And lest I've painted her as a passive dainty blossom, don't worry: Apple Juice snores like a trucker, snorts with the best of 'em, and is quick to set boundaries with dogs who do not introduce themselves properly. (She's juicy!) And yet, barks are few and far between, and I've never once heard her whine.

Don't let her limited vision deter you; her supergenius ways serve her well. She mapped out my space quicker than most (human) visitors and, with a few well-placed tactile cues, learned her daily paths in a flash. You needn't provide lengthy hikes, and this girl possesses genuine joie de vivre: why walk when you can twirl?

Another massive bonus: blissfully sleeping through the night. No hyper, in-your-face, early-morning pup here. She will lounge until brunchtime, thank you very much. The juicy lifestyle is a good one. And did you notice her snow-kissed markings? Look closely. She really is one of a kind.
