My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Aries came into our care last month, abandoned and found by the NYPD. From the moment we met him, we knew he was special. He’s full of energy, playful, and loves nothing more than pouncing around with his toys, despite a little clumsiness. But over time, his foster noticed something unusual about his gait and movement, and over the weekend Aries had a consult with @amcny’s Neurology Department where Aries was diagnosed with hydrocephalus—a condition that causes fluid buildup in his brain. Aries remains the happiest, goofiest, most loving puppy but he will need to be on medication for life (Omeprazole), and he will always need some extra help with coordination as he can lean and walk into things but isn’t expected to get any worse. At just 5 months old and 57 lbs, Aries is still growing into the big boy he’s meant to be and this doesn’t stunt him at all!  Aries is searching for a foster-to-adopt or forever home where he can thrive. A family with another dog who can help him play and burn off energy would be wonderful! His current foster stepped in when Aries was brought to the NYPD and needed urgent placement, but is not around most of the day.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

The first step of the adoption process is to complete an adoption application in full at www.rescuecity.nyc. All of our dogs are in foster homes throughout the city. We do not have a physical location where we keep dogs.

More about this rescue

Rescue City is a no-kill, non-profit1 pet rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption organization. Our team of dedicated volunteers is based in Brooklyn, NY and serves the NYC metro and surrounding areas.

Our organization’s motto is: There’s a person for every dog, and there’s a dog for every person…it’s just a matter of time. This applies whether you are looking to adopt a pet, or would like to make a positive impact on the lives of animals. At Rescue City we believe it is our moral responsibility to defend the lives of abused, abandoned, and neglected animals.
We take on helpless stray and surrendered animals, as well as those at the top of the euthanasia list at local and international shelters. We place our rescues in nurturing foster homes while they rebuild their lives through physical and mental rehabilitation. Following a thorough – but hassle free – adoption process, our Rescues are placed in loving, responsible, and committed permanent homes. Every rescue is fully vetted and altered, micro-chipped, and vaccinated upon adoption. Our commitment to our rescues does not stop once the adoption paperwork is signed. We stress the importance of responsible pet ownership, and we educate our Fosters, Adopters, and community on what it means to be a good pet owner.
