My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Little Man Baxter, a young corgi mix, may be small but he has a big personality. After his owner passed away, the family of the deceased surrendered him in hopes he'd find another terrific home where he would be treasured and loved forever. We won't let this little guy down. Baxter is very smart, curious, alert, playful, energetic and independent. He's the kind of fella that prefers his own space so we're seeking an adult only home and preferably one that is active and will include him on outdoor adventures. He'd make a fantastic buddy not only for daily walks but also for hikes and outdoor exploration. He loves playing ball, going for walks and chasing after toys. He loves having an activity or a job to do so he could put his intelligence and little legs to work - they may be short but they sure move fast! A fenced in yard would be a plus as he really enjoys the freedom of running and chasing after his toys. He has an endearing talent with his ears: both up; one up, one down; and a look of no ears at all lol. Baxter would thrive in an active home that will keep him properly stimulated both mentally and physically while understanding his independent spirit. He gets along with other dogs, was interested in the cat we introduced him to but respectfully backed off when the cat told him to. He is estimated to have been born around December 2022 and weighs around 40 lbs. He's neutered, up to date with vaccinations and micro-chipped.

Please note, we are always in need of foster homes for our dogs. If interested in making a difference in a dog's life we would love to share with you what it means to be a foster parent.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We are dedicated to ensuring that our dogs go to a "forever" loving, nurturing home. As a result, our process is stringent, requiring an application, home visit, vet and reference checks and an adoption contract. We want the adoption to be a match made in heaven for both the new adoptive parents and the adopted dog.

Go meet their pets

We provide adoption opportunities for those living in the Northeast who are willing to do long distance adoptions. Many of our dogs live in Wharton, Texas but we have very safe, reliable transport to the Northeast.

More about this rescue

Smiling Dog Farms is a 501(c) non-profit animal rescue. We strive to restore hope to the forgotten, neglected and rejected unwanted dogs and puppies rescued from the streets and local kill-shelters. Each dog that enters our rescue receives their full round of vaccinations, gets spayed or neutered, micro-chipped and placed on flea and tick and heartworm prevention. Many of our dogs live in Wharton Texas, but we have very safe, reliable transport to the Northeast.
