XL - 'Ex-El' - Supersized. Jumbo. A BIG boy. A bigfoot.
EXTRA LARGE.
It's XL.
XL had a bit of a rough start to life. He was found with his 2 sisters at a construction site in Tucson, AZ where their mother had been killed by heavy construction machinery. They were scrounging for any food they could find, were horribly emaciated, sick, had missing hair and a skin infection, and were scared beyond description. Thanks to the help of the amazing rescue community and awesome volunteers, they made their way to CO and into foster where they all gained weight, got treated with medications, and learned the comfort of human touch.
He may only be about 3.5 lbs now but this guy has big gains ahead. Weight gains. Based on his massive sized paws, it's expected that XL will grow into a decent sized loaf. Perhaps a mega loaf. He loves his siblings and most days you can catch him taking up the whole cat bed while his sisters crowd on top of him or doing big bro things (*cough cough* picking on his sisters and hogging all the snacks *cough*) or just catching some zzzzz's in the sun. He does love to play and will do best in a home with at least 1 other playful, confident cat. He hasn't been around dogs much - is a little spooked of them on first impressions but could probably come around to the idea of a canine sibling with some time and consideration for personality dynamics. He has been handled by supervised children and is tolerant of little hands. Overall, he's a pretty confident guy who likes the pets and snuggles but needs more than 1 outlet to get out some energy and playfulness too. Aside from being physically large, he has a very distinguished goatee on his chin along with center-parted dark hair much like 'Alfalfa' - very distinguished indeed. XL's 2 sisters, Timothina and Mimzee are also up for adoption or will be shortly.

Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes that every pet should find a wonderful, caring home. To ensure each pet finds the best possible home, we ask that you fill out an adoption application form so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application we receive and will contact you as quickly as possible. A home visit will be scheduled before any pet is adopted to a new home. Once a home visit has taken place and the adoption application has been approved, we will ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement form. Our adoption fees help cover the cost of spay/neuter, veterinary exams, vaccinations, microchipping, and foster care. Highly requested breeds help cover the vet costs incurred by some of our other cats, enabling us to save more lives!
If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an adoption application here . We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process!
Please email cats@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can not accept calls at this time.
PLEASE NOTE: The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter. Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets. Here is some interesting info on breed identification: https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/
Our adoption process is:
1. Fill out our Adoption Application online. We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet.
2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting. Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member!
