My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mi so sweet!

Hi, I’m Miso! I’m a 10-month-old, 74-pound terrier mix, and I’m all about love, fun, and adventure! I was found as a tiny puppy with my nine siblings on LA’s skid row, but life has gotten so much better since then! I’ve discovered how much I love being with people, especially snuggling up and pretending I’m a lap dog. I’m bathroom trained and don’t need a crate—I’m totally trustworthy! I’m pretty good on a leash, though I’m still working on improving my skills. I get a bit excited when I see other dogs while walking, but I’ve been making great progress, and I’m learning to be friendly even on a leash. My ideal family will help me keep getting better at this.

I’m a social guy who loves playing with other dogs, especially with a slow introduction. No cats for me! I have a blast going on playdates or just hanging out with my foster brother. I also enjoy playing with toys—squeaky ones, chewables, you name it! While I can have high energy when I’m playing, I settle down nicely afterward. My super-soft fur makes cuddling even better! I’m curious, smart, and love to follow my humans around to see what they’re up to. When it’s time for adventures, I’m always ready! Walks, hikes, or just being out and about—I’m your guy. I’m super food-motivated, which makes training me a breeze. I’ve already learned a lot and pick up new things quickly.

I’d do best in a home with older kids since I can get a little too energetic for the little ones. A playful doggy sibling would be awesome, but I’d also be happy as the only dog if I get to go on regular playdates or to the dog park. I love hanging out with my people and being part of the action, but I’m also fine chilling on my own when needed. If you’re looking for a loving, smart, and loyal companion who’s always up for cuddles and adventures, I’m your boy! Let’s make a lifetime of memories together! My adoption fee is $500 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
