My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Chip D!

Breed: Lab/Shepherd Mix
Estimated DOB: 02/14/2023
Sex: Male - neutered
Weight: 51 lbs
Up to date on all age-appropriate vaccinations

Things to Know About Chip D:

- After spending 493 days in a Mississippi shelter, Chip is adjusting well to his new life. He’s learning the house routines and loves lounging on sofas and beds.
- Chip is very sweet and loves people—enjoys petting and head scratches
- He’s gaining confidence in new environments and warms up quickly, though he can be a bit shy at first, Chip would do best in a home without small children
- Medium energy: plays hard but crashes afterward
- Chip enjoys wrestling and playing with his foster brothers (dogs), going for walks, and chewing on dog chews.
- Walks well on leash
- Rides well in the car
- Chip responds well to corrections during play and training and is improving every day at following commands like “no.” He’s always eager to please and has a cheerful disposition.
- He is excellent in his crate, going in willingly, settling easily, and staying quiet, especially when given a treat.
- Chip is housebroken but does best with a regular schedule or frequent potty breaks, as he needs time outside to go to the bathroom.
- Chip is dog-friendly with a rough and tumble play style—he loves chasing, wrestling, and playful sneak attacks with other dogs.
- He’s cat-friendly but may try to play, so he would do best with a dog-savvy cat.
- Chip would thrive in a home with another playful dog or an active family or individual who can keep him stimulated with play and activity.

Additional adoption info

When you adopt from TLC, you become a part of our family. We will be there for you with continued support even after adoption.

At TLC, our adoption process is simple and straight-forward. We want you to find a new family member and we want our rescue dogs to find their forever home. There is no cost to apply and we do not require you to put a deposit on a dog to be able to meet a dog. An application does not obligate or limit you to adopting the dog listed on the application.

Applications are carefully considered and processed by our applications team. After submission, an adoption counselor will contact you to conduct an interview where together you will assess your needs and work to find the right match. We speak to veterinary references, landlords and personal references before approving an application.

More about this rescue

To Love a Canine Rescue, Inc. (TLC) is a non-profit, all breed, 100% foster-based, no-kill rescue operating in Chester County, PA. Our mission is to rescue and find permanent homes for abandoned, stray and surrendered dogs in order to minimize the needless euthanizing of animals.

We have a passion for saving dogs as well as a thirst to educate the community on reducing the number of dogs needing rescue. From puppies to seniors, there is a perfect dog out there for everyone. We pride ourselves on making the right connection between dog and family in order to give our dogs their final, joyful, loving home. Ultimately, our wish would be for empty shelters so no dog is left behind… until they all have a home.

TLC is designated as a 501(c)(3) by the IRS. Donations made to TLC are fully tax-deductible as allowed by law. The official registration and financial information of TLC may be obtained from the Pennsylvania Department of State by calling 1-800-732-0999. Registration does not imply endorsement.
