My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Handsome Duke is so deserving of that royal title!  This is a majestic liver and white Brittany with beautiful markings and a sweet demeanor. Duke came to NBRAN as an owner surrender. Sadly, Duke had an infected eye a few years back he had to have his left eye removed. Because of his blindness in his one eye, Duke will not be placed in a home with young children or overly active dogs that could startle him.

Duke is laid back and while he doesn't mind other dogs, he's just as happy to entertain himself.  His latest hobby is running in his backyard looking for winged creatures to bark at like the true bird dog that he is!  He would need a nice, fenced yard so he can run around and chase all the birds and critters.

Duke is housebroken and easily learned to use his foster's doggy door right away.  He has had no accidents in the house.  He has also earned is foster's trust to the point where he need not be crated overnight any longer or when left at home for extended periods.  He is always sure to find the comfiest cushioned spot to lay!

Training is ongoing and Duke has mastered "sit" and "wait" and will faithfully do so before feeding or walking.   Leash walking is a work in progress and the proper halter or collar (and some more practice) will help.   Duke is pretty good about counter surfing but if a tasty looking morsel is left too close to the edge, he may take advantage of the situation.  Continued training will likely take care of that.

This charming boy will need a physical fence to prevent him finding an interesting diversion in another yard.  Duke will do best in a home where his family is committed to continue his training and provide consistent reinforcement.  He might be best suited as an only dog where he doesn't need to share attention but would also thrive with a canine buddy of similar size.

The adoption fee for Duke is 350.00 which helps to offset NBRAN's vetting and to help medical care for Brittanys in foster care. He is UTD on his vaccinations, heartworm negative, neutered, and is microchipped. He weighs 50 pounds, He is not overweight, just a solid boy.  Duke can be transported up to 1400 miles via the Canine Railroad with the new family driving the last leg.

Please complete an application at NBRAN.org and your state coordinator will be in touch.

Duke is located in Kentucky. You may contact the Kentucky state coordinator's if you have any additional questions. Neca neca227@gmail.com or Amy amypgay@gmail.com
