My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Ruth, an adorable 10-year-old Maltese Poodle mix with a heart as big as her story. Found alone in a field just days before Hurricane Berryl's wrath, Ruth was weak, vulnerable, and barely hanging on. The shelter was her last stop until CAMO Rescue stepped in, saving her from euthanasia and giving her a chance at the life she deserves.

Despite everything she's been through, Ruth is a survivor. She's battled her way back from the brink, receiving fluids and veterinary care that revealed she has a heart murmur and is in kidney failure. Her time might be limited-perhaps a year, maybe more, maybe less-but Ruth isn't ready to give up. Every day in her foster home, she grows stronger and more vibrant, embracing life with an undeniable will to live.

Ruth's hearing and vision aren't what they used to be, and she's dealing with dental disease and a pronasal fistula that can't be repaired. But none of this slows her down. She adores her prescription kidney diet, savors every bite, and loves nothing more than to snuggle up like a baby, wrapped in your arms, content to just be close.

Ruth is the definition of sweet. She gets along well with other dogs, would likely do fine with cats, and has an all-encompassing love for anyone who shows her kindness. While surgeries like spaying or dental procedures aren't in her best interest due to the risks of anesthesia, Ruth is still full of life and love to give.

If you have room in your heart and home for a very special soul who will fill your days with warmth and companionship, please consider adopting Ruth. She's waiting for that perfect someone who will cherish every moment with her, knowing that each day is a gift.

More about this rescue

CAMO Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that offers life, health, and a forever home. We specialize in dogs that other rescues can’t or won’t take due to fearful nature or medical needs. We primarily rescue ‘euthanasia listed’ animals that are in immediate danger of death. We provide shots, spay/neuter, microchip, foster homes, food, medical treatment and love to dogs that are abandoned, unwanted or otherwise in need. We never euthanize an animal to make room for another. In addition to caring for our dogs and finding the best possible home for them, we provide education to the community; encouraging and promoting responsible pet ownership. If needed, our rescue dogs are retrained to socialize in an adoptive loving family. We have had phenomenal success, and amazing support from our community. We believe that animals, as living creatures are entitled to a quality life, respect and compassion. Since humans have domesticated animals, we have a moral and ethical responsibility to care for them. We are partnered with many Shelters to help them reach the same goal.
