My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi lovely Canadians. My name is DEDI and here is a little info about me:
Breed: Labrador Retriever/Cane Corso mix
Age: 3-1/2 yrs
Gender: female
Weight: 38 kg
Country of origin: Republic of Georgia
Highlight(s): eager to please/learn, easy to train, intelligent, curious, faitful, affectionate, entertaining

I am an amazing dog with human like eyes. I just love people and am loyal to my core.

Having once lived in a village, I had an owner, but he turned out to be a bad person and one day he went to the animal market with puppies (we have such a terrible place here.) As he couldn't sell me or the puppies, he left us on the street. Thankfully, a rescuer tried to step in and brought me and the pups to a safer place. They were able to find homes for some pups, a few got lost, and sadly, some didn't survive.

I had been living in this neighborhood since Aug 2023, where some people were caring for me. Others would chase me with electric shocks and sticks. That's the way life is here. Finally, sone neighbors threatened to kill me, because of my size and appearance.

So, my rescuer found a paid shelter to keep me safe. I have been living there now since June 2024. Not the greatest conditions, but I am fed and can no longer be hurt by anyone. My rescuer still visits me several times a week, gives me her attention, walks, etc...

When I was on the streets, though difficult, I took good care of my puppies and even took in other puppies to care for too. I am the nuturing type. I tend to be bright-eyed, cuddly &
affectionate girl.

I am truly a calm dog, but being kept in the closed space of a room is making me get a bit overly excited when I get my walks. Understandable, who wouldn''t be going crazy in 4 walls with little to do. I'm sure once I find a home where I get regular walks, attention and play time, my chilled self will return. I can be curious & bold, so readily come forward for love. Being such an incredibly intelligent girl, I am quick to pick up on learning things. I'm eager to please you and learn, so it makes me an easy trainee. Of course, as many clever dogs are, I can have an ele,ent if stubborness at times. Overall, I am quite obedient though.

Humans are my thing. I love them, big ones, little ones, I just love to hang out and play with kids. On fact, I spent hours playing with the neighbour children. I also friendly with other dogs and enjoy playing with them too. Cats however, are not on my nice list. You'll find me entertaining in a quirky way.

I'd really like a home with people everywhere.. kids, grandmas, visiting relatives, friends, everyone is welcome. Bigger kids would be better, so I don't knock over small ones in my enthusiasm. If you have another doggee for me to play with, super. If not, let's go find some canine pals for me. Uh, no kitties, please. I just want to love you up and have you love me.

Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.

Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live.

Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.

Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you.

While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs.

The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.

Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website.

[MID-EAST] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East.

[TURKEY] *Dogs receive 4D SNAP tests - which include: Heartworm, Ehrlichiosis, Leishmania and Anaplasmosis.
