Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
We rescued 8-year-old Newark from Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on August 20th. He is a very sweet boy and is a wonderful companion whether you want a cuddle buddy to watch tv with or to go on long walks. Newark is quite the catch!
Newark is currently in a foster home, and his Foster Mom reports:
“Newark is super friendly and loves people. He'll come up to you and ask for pets head or back scratches. He is a tiny bit nervous when people come at him too quickly, and he might be a little shy around children at first, but slow and steady is the best way with any rescue dog. He's been great with my 7 year old son and has made fast friends with our elderly neighbors and mailman who come by the yard with treats.
Newark has spent the last month happily co-existing with our other two senior dogs and they all get along just great. None of them are really interested in playing or snuggling with each other but we've had literally no issues with sharing toys or resource guarding. On our walks Newark is usually interested in other dogs and only barked once at a large dog passing by.
Newark LOVES daily walks and sniffing around the neighborhood, but most of the day he is content to lounge around in a cozy dog bed or outside on a lounger in the sun. He's quite mellow, but can be spunky when he's excited to see his people or get ready for a walk.
Newark prefers to go on walks over the yard, so we make sure to give 2 long walks and at least 2 other leashed pee-pee walks throughout the day. He had a few accidents in the house in the beginning, but I think it was because he was in a new place.
We’ve been working through some separation anxiety, Newark has made great improvement! We like to leave the TV on for him and give him a lick mat. Newark also loves his stuffies and snuggles with them so stuffies are a must! And he gets cold easily, so lots of cute sweaters, too!"
Newark is ready for his forever home! Might that be with you?
