My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Calling all GoT fans: Say hello to Calvin - part Chi, part White Walker, 100% good boy! Okay, so he's not actually part of the undead army, but those blue eyes and coat will keep you guessing on what puts the mix in his Chi! At 7 years old and 13 lbs, this handsome nugget is the perfect size to spend the days with you doing just about anything. Whether it's catching ZzZs or jogging around the block, if you're down, he's down!

Calvin is very polite on the leash, fully potty trained, crate trained, and knows general commands, making him a great choice for someone looking to skip this part and onto the fun stuff! He's smart, eager to please, and food motivated - the training trifecta! - making it a breeze for him to pick up new words and tricks. Calvin's previous owner unfortunately had to move and was unable to take him, and his foster family is helping him rebuild his confidence while alone and in new surroundings. He'll be your head of homeland security but can take it a little too seriously at times, so he will thrive with humans that will continue the structure and training he needs to show him that the world can be a safe and happy place (He pinky-pawmised to continue working on it!). While he can be unsure of new people at first, he warms up once he discovers you've got an extra pair of hands to employ for scritches! He can be quite a goof and his favorite pastime is what his fosters call his "Calvin Contentment Ceremony™" - wiggling around on the floor reminiscent of a toddler's tumbling routine while purring like a cat.

His foster parents have a hybrid work schedule so he looks forward to doggie daycare once a week, where they found out he enjoys hanging out with canine friends of all ages and sizes! People are always drawn in by his handsome face and stay for his charm. He loves saying hi to his furry neighbors and is always a hit at daycare, but would prefer to be your one and only pup at home. Calvin loves with his whole heart and would love nothing more than to go all in on his forever family!

More about this rescue

I.C.A.R.E. is an all breed, no kill dog rescue. We rescue dogs at risk of being euthanized from shelters, abandoned, abused, and stray dogs. We also rescue many owner surrendered dogs; which are dogs that can no longer remain in their current homes due to financial or personal issues. I.C.A.R.E. Dog Rescue is dedicated to reducing the number of dogs that are euthanized in our shelters each and everyday. We focus on rescuing and rehabilitating them in loving foster homes until they are adopted into their permanent homes. We also focus on educating the public regarding specific breeds, rescue, and general information regarding the canine species. We are a 100% volunteer run and supported organization that cannot survive without the help of loving fosters, volunteers, and benefactors.
