Hi, my name is Gustavo, but I answer to Gus. I’m a year old, and a very lovable, playful 12 lb. Chihuahua pup. I’m a little standoffish (cautious) when I first meet anyone. It only takes a few days for me to come out of my shell, though. Then I start to run and play hard. Everything I see looks like a toy to me! I love the other doggies in my foster home. I’m hoping they will play with me, but if they don’t, that’s OK, I’ll just play around them. Maybe my new human family will want to play? I’m not an aggressive guy, and I don’t mind if my bones or toys are “stolen” from me by the other pups…I’m certainly not going to fight about it. But when they’re not looking, I’ll just steal them back and continue with whatever I’m doing. Snuggling in foster mom’s lap is new to me, but I like it! Snuggles and kisses are the bomb!! I discovered I’m not very happy being in a crate at night by myself. I’ll do it, but I don’t like it. I’m getting to sleep in bed with foster mom and all the dogs, and it’s the best. I’m working on being on a leash and going potty outside…I’m actually doing pretty well!! Foster mom thinks a vest or harness would be better for me than a collar. I would be easier to direct.I would like to find my forever family with kids and a fenced-in yard to play in. I won’t hurt tiny kids, but I’m pretty energetic – they’ll just need to be watched over till they’re bigger, so I don’t knock them over. A fence around our yard is a must. Then we can all grow up and play together and be safe. I’m up to date on all my shots, had a negative heartworm test and am on monthly preventative. I’m also neutered, dewormed and microchipped.
