My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is a courtesy post. Please email Pilar at pilarmajors@gmail.com, Stella is fostered in Glencoe, CA.

Here is the information that Pilar (her foster mom) has to say about Stella:
Stella is about two years old, a mix of heeler and shorthaired pointer, located in Glencoe, CA and is looking for an active person or family she can call her own. We have been fostering her for a year after she was found by us and neighbors in the highway multiple times. She had fleas, about 25 ticks on her, was underweight, and had very bad habits of escaping and running for miles (she is a VERY athletic dog!), had zero training, and showed signs of being kicked by people. However, she was still naturally an incredibly sweet, cuddly dog who clearly wanted to have friends and be an active family dog! We have since gotten her fully de-bugged, to a healthy weight, spayed, and vaccinated, and her training is coming along well to ensure she can fit in to a new family. She is the perfect size…small enough to carry, and big enough to run alongside us for miles. We have leash trained her, and she has learned to sit and stay. She loves wrestling with bigger dogs, is great with our cats, has been very gentle with veterinarians and children, and likes to be active, she would make an excellent adventure companion for anyone who likes to take road trips, camp, hike, run, etc. She is terrified of horses, will chase turkeys and squirrels, and gets very jealous of the attention we give to our other (equally jealous) big dogs, so she is just not able to have as much fun in our rural household as she’d like to. She has the CUTEST bouncy, joyful run, and will “hold hands” with anyone, giving them the best “take me home” seal pup eyes, so she is sure to win your heart! I have enjoyed her company in my therapy practice, she would be a great choice for an ESA dog or even a therapy or service dog for someone with experience in training her through her remaining goals. We are very reluctant to let her go to a new home, but she does need more action and her own active person with time and attention to spare, and with our horsey life and full household, she just isn’t getting enough of either. She cannot be trusted to stay in a fence, she will dig and climb even 6' fences, but does well when crated overnight indoors, and is cable run trained so she can stay in a yard if this is available to her. She is learning to be recalled off leash but needs a very responsible person to work on her training in this area. She does not like highly rambunctious, in-her-face smaller dogs, and can bump into small children when excited though she does not mean any harm. We would be happy to tell you more about her! More about this rescue

Hi, My name is Marianna. 15 years ago during my last trimester of my pregnancy, I have rescued 5 m old puppy pit bull, who was emaciated, locked in the shed, and under socialized. 2 weeks later, the puppy has prevented me from drifting into diabetic coma by waking me up while I was laying on the couch. I named him 2nd Chance, or Chancey, or Momma' Boy. As much as I have saved him, he has saved our then unborn daughter and also me.

When my daughter turned 5 months old, I have decided to start rescuing pit bulls from the public, and also, the shelters. My life has been changed forever by rescuing the most abused and neglected breed in US. I feel that now my life has a purpose. Today, I am a mom, Human Resources Professional, friend, and the Rescuer. I am honored to be able to rescue fur kids and find them great homes.

Thank you for your time! Marianna and Chance (his B-day is Christmas).
