My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I'm a wiggly girl with a bit of a nervous side. I'm still trying to figure out this place and what I'm doing here! I'd really appreciate slow, calm introductions so I can get to know you at my own pace. Sudden movements and loud noises can often startle me. I would do best with older children (15+) who can be gentle with me and understand my need for patience.
I'm happiest when I'm outside and soaking up the sun. For some treats, I'll sit and shake! I even love to show off my zoomies! I'm fast and I can often get a bit too rowdy. I could use some gentle reminders to chill out! I've been a little shy around other dogs so I'd do best with slow introductions to new canine friends. We're unsure how I feel about cats. I'm looking for a loving family who's willing to give me the time I need to open up. A few yummy treats and some words of encouragement are a couple ways to win me over! Come meet me and let's see if we're a perfect match!

More about this shelter

WHO WE ARE

The Almost Home Humane Society (AHHS) (formerly the Tippecanoe County Humane Society) was founded in 1939 by a group of local animal lovers in Tippecanoe County. Since its beginning more than 60 years ago, the organization has been dedicated to improving the lives of animals in our community.

We are not a government agency, are not affiliated with any national organization, and we are not a United Way Agency. We are an open-admission shelter and we accept all animals in need, regardless of age, health or adoptability. As a local non-profit we exist through the generosity of our community.

MISSION STATEMENT

We, the Almost Home Humane Society (AHHS), care deeply about the comfort and rights of animals and citizens within our area. As such, we strive to enhance the relationship between people and animals through education, to control the pet population through responsible advocacy, and to provide sanctuary for unwanted, lost, and neglected animals.

NON-PROFIT STATUS

The Almost Home Humane Society (AHHS) is an independent, nonprofit agency. We are not funded by any governmental or national animal welfare organization. We are a private, non-profit 501(c) 3 organization dedicated to the prevention of cruelty to animals, relief of suffering among animals and the extension of humane education, and we are governed by a volunteer board of directors.
