Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
What is warm, comforting, and just what you need to come home to after a long day? A big bowl of gumbo! Meet Gumbo, the sweetest, calmest boy you'll ever meet!
This easygoing pup loves walks (and walks loose leash!), toys, and gentle pets. He's a pro at tug-of-war, patiently waiting for you to offer the toy and gently taking it in his mouth. If you're not playing, he'll gently nudge your hand to remind you that game-time is still on! Gumbo's a lower-energy pup who's happy to relax or play.
Gumbo came into our care as a stray with an open neck wound crawling with maggots -- the result of a severely embedded collar. Our veterinary team said "Even with extensive infection of his wounds and the extreme pain he must have been in, Gumbo smiled and wagged his tail and wanted to give affection and get love." The only tell-tale sign of the cruelty and neglect that Gumbo suffered is the physical scar on his neck, as we have not met a sweeter soul.
Gumbo is affectionate but not overly so - his favorite place to be is next to you, slightly touching you, with a soft toy serving as a pillow under his head. He's the perfect companion for anyone looking for a chill, cuddly friend. He's also available for outings and for long-term fostering.
With what an amazing, trusting, gentle dog he is even after what he went through, Gumbo truly deserves the most loving home. Will you be Gumbo's happy forever home?
