UPDATE 10-4-24: See Kona in action on our website! https://www.summitdogrescue.org/meet-kona.html
---------------------------------
Meet Kona!
This sweet girl is a gorgeous 11-month-old herding breed mix (with a bit of Husky). She weighs 51 lbs. --- a nice medium size as she's fully grown now --- with a beautiful, elegant body, gorgeous long legs and a chocolatey velvet coat. She will make an amazing mountain dog for someone looking for a great companion!
Kona is an absolute sweetheart and enjoys being with people and dog friends. She's an active young dog who loves to swim, hike and play fetch.
She'll be a great hiking or running partner, and will be your loyal, devoted friend. She also enjoys snuggling next to you on the couch, or by your feet while you’re working.
Kona is super smart and loves to play training games, as you can see in some of her videos. She is quite a nice walker on leash, and loves to learn. She is very responsive to working with our volunteers! She is a fun loving, brilliant dog.
We think Kona would thrive in a home with another friendly, fun resident dog. However if you are a committed home without a resident dog, that could work, too, as long as you’re dedicated to her.
Kona does have some prey drive with squirrels and bunnies -- after all, she's a dog -- but she's easily redirected.
Kona is currently being fostered in Colorado. Her adoption fee is partially sponsored by a generous donor, so her fee will be $285.
If you are interested in Kona, send us an email at SummitDogRescue@gmail.com, telling us a bit about yourself, your home environment and your lifestyle. A volunteer will get back to you shortly. Thanks.

If everyone agrees this is a good match, the board approves the adoption.

Additional adoption info
First you must fill out an application which we will review. Then we will do a phone interview, reference check and finally a home visit before a dog is placed in your home. We ONLY adopt to homes where the dog is an indoor dog, part of the family and treated as such. We stress excellent nutrition, proper training and follow up with all our adopters.
We are probably have one of the more thorough and difficult adoption processes... and we love that people want to adopt and don't want to discourage adopters! So please, if you're in a hurry, or not an exceptional furever home - please try other rescues or a SHELTER is a great option too!
