My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Diesel!

Say hello to our handsome hunk of a shepherd/lab Diesel! He's nine months old and is 57 pounds of timid tenderness!

Like so many others, Diesel's start in life was not what is should have been. He was abandoned with his littermates on a country road, left to fend for themselves. Thankfully, he and his siblings were rescued and they are ready for their happily ever afters!

Before arriving at GLDR, Diesel was in a foster home with small children and other pups and did wonderful with both. He can be timid when you first meet him, but spend a few minutes sitting with him and you'll see quickly why he's won our hearts. Once he gives you that first kiss, you'll want to make him a permanent member of your family!

Diesel has come so far in the last few weeks and it's so great seeing him enjoying his toys and treats, which he takes gently. His new family needs to provide him with daily exercise and a yard to play in. As Diesel is a young pup, he will benefit from continued training as he grows. It will be a great way to form a loving bond with him.

Diesel recently had an outing and went for a hike and a pup cup! He's pretty good on a leash and was great with passing people and bikes on the trail. He needs a little reassurance getting in the car, but enjoyed the ride once he was in.

Based on our evaluation, we feel Diesel would do well in an active home with adults or families with kids ages five and up. He may have the potential to live with other dogs as he has done well with them in the past. We are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby.

Don't wait! Head to greatlakesdogrescue.com today and submit your application for our delightful Diesel!
