My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Food: Bison/Venison Grain Free Kibble

Medical Needs: Optix Care daily for dry eye

Introducing Marvelous Mabel! This precious little lady has come so far in such a short period of time and she is ready to steal your heart! This tough girl came to us via breeder surrender along with about 40 ticks, a backyard DIY cherry eye cutout and was very underweight. Yet even though humans had let her down so much in her previous life, she never stopped showing love and thankfulness to everyone who has helped her along the way. The Badass Bulldog volunteers went right to work with this girl picking off the numerous ticks, cleaning and bathing her, vetting her and getting her settled and decompressed with her new Foster Family. Her "glow-up has been nothing short of incredible to watch and she is literally the sweetest dog ever!!
Mabel really loves her humans, and I mean really really LOVES them. Although she was a little skittish at first with a few introductions to new people, sudden moves from people and if anyone raised their hands around her for any reason, she's learned to trust that she will never be hurt again and LOVES being the life of the party getting all the pets and hugs. She enjoys short, leisurely walks and is great on the leash. She also loves exploring in the backyard and throughout the house taking in all of the new sights, smells and feels her new life of (structured) freedom has to offer.
She loves her daily routine and this really brings her a sense of security. She rises at about 7am with a gentle wake up stroking from foster dad, off for a quick morning pee, a small breakfast, back outside for a poop and back in for the first Power Nap of the day...like clockwork! She has just really started playing a little with her foster dog brother who she likes ok even though he's a little grumpy. However, truth be known, if her human foster mom, brother, sister, or any and all repairmen, mailmen or basically any humans are around, she's much more interested in them because this means she gets lots of love, pets, hugs and cuddles that her foster dog sibling just can't give her. So right now what I'm seeing is she can have dog siblings or not, it's doesn't really matter to her as long as she has her people. This may change with another dog sibling that may be a better match for her and also over time as she most likely didn't experience much dog play in her previous life. She has also just recently started playing with toys and particularly likes her toys that she can chew on. Full disclosure on Mable's sometimes bad habits- she took a fancy to electrical cords when she first came to us but since we moved them up out of her reach she hasn't pushed the issue.
Mabel is a great eater and enjoys several small meals throughout the day. She eats dry grain free, bison/venison kibble like a champ at a hot dog eating contest. She will sometimes show bad manners if we're eating in the family room and force her way to see if we're eating that yummy kibble too but is easily redirected to "act like the little lady she is.
This girl is all the good of an adorable English Bulldog with her big smile, incredible underbite, funny personality that will keep you and everyone who comes to visit laughing, her slow and steady pace and endless cuddles on demand. She also inherited some of the stubbornness that is common with the English Bulldog breed so it would be ideal for her forever family to have bulldog experience and allot of patience to help her acclimate to her knew home and family but trust me, this beautiful soul is well worth any effort!
