IN NEED OF LOCAL FOSTER OR ADOPTER / AVAILABLE FOR FOSTER TO ADOPT FOR LOCAL ADOPTERS
Meet Millie!
Millie is 3 years old, female (approx. DOB tbd), 56 lbs., vetted, is or will be spayed, and micro-chipped. This sweet girl has been through so much but kept her faith in humans strong and is now the sweetest loving pup! In rescue, there are many times you wish you could simply ask a dog – what happened to you? Where did you come from? What did you endure? When we first met Millie, we knew she was a survivor. She is an inspiring example of resiliency and a dog’s powerful ability to forgive.
She was shivering in the back corner of her kennel. She wouldn’t make eye contact. When touched, she would flinch every time. She was so traumatized, she had to be carried from her kennel outside. Her small body was covered in lacerations and bites. And, she had been deprived of food for so long you could see her ribs and hip bones. At just 27.5 lbs, she was half her desired weight. When her foster family let her outside for the first time, she gingerly walked on the grass, unsure of herself and her footing. Had her paws ever felt grass before?
Millie the Brave was broken -- physically and emotionally. Would she make it? Passion4Paws and her SC foster family believed in her and stepped-in within hours of her perishing forever.
Over the next few days and then weeks, Millie ate. She walked. She got stronger. She ran! She asked to be petted and rolled onto her back for belly rubs. She ran through the yard and played fetch with a stuffed fox, throwing it into the air. She hung out with new feline friends and met her foster dog brothers!
Now Millie is potty trained, feels safe in her crate, Independent, submissive, listens well, and has liked both cats and dogs! She is her happiest with a daily routine she can predict, belly rubs, chewy bones, and running in the yard. Millie can be nervous in new situations, is submissive but very excited and enthusiastic when meeting new dogs!
Stay tuned for more information as Millie is a new rescue!

Disclosure: Breed labels are often incorrect: we rarely know the genetic lineage of the dogs we rescue. Many shelters and rescues specify breeds based on appearance; however, research has shown that less than 2% of a dog’s DNA determines appearance! Passion 4 Paws does not practice the use of labels pertaining to compatibility with others or dog breed. Labels such as “dog friendly” and “child friendly” should be used with caution as they often over-simplify the personalities and behavior of dogs.
