My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello there, I'm Lacy! I have a couple questions to ask you. Have you been thinking about bringing a little pupper into your life? Dreaming of a sweet darling that loves to play with dogs? Hoping she is pint-sized? Interested in the Heeler variety of pup? Have the time to devote to helping a shy girl shine? If you answered YES to these questions, you are in for a real treat because I match perfectly with all those puppy hopes and dreams. Read on!

Please allow me to expand on each of those parts of me. I'm a sweet and sensitive little girl with a penchant for play! I love playing with dogs and I am an active romper-arounder in play groups. I love sticks, toys, horsing around, zoomies, and just plain being with my pup and dog friends. Sunny afternoon siestas with my sisters-from-a-different-mister and brothers-from-another-mother are downright dreamy.

Truth be told, I am utterly relaxed and happy with my dog buddies and, conversely, tentative around humans. I'm not sure if some mean person gave me a startle when I was littler or if being a little shy is just my temperament, but either way, at the moment this is who I am: Lacy, A Girl Who Makes You Work For Her Trust!

So, if you require a puppy who eagerly wants to be scooped up into your arms the first day we meet, and looks up at you with googly oogly eyes filled with love -- ask the volunteers about Major. That's exactly who he is and I admire him for it! (Side note: Major is my roommate here at Desert Haven, so you can meet us both when you come for a visit!)

But if you want a sweetheart of a puppy that will let you scoop her up and will be unsure about whether or not it is a good idea and will look up at you with "holy crap am I going to fall in love with you that scares the bejeebus out of me right now!" eyes -- let's keep this conversation going!

Girls like me, that take their sweet time and that develop deep bonds over time, become dogs made of gold. Plus, I am only five months old now! I'm just a baby so I fit easily in your arms. The most important thing to know is that I am always sweet. When I feel unsure, I just try to keep some space between us when I first meet a new person. Hotdog bits, yummy treats, and lots of patience -- those are things to have in your back pocket when you come to meet me.

So, to sum up, at the moment, I'm in need of a patient family that sees my sparkle. I have an adorable twinkle in my eye. I am very lovable and tender. I think it's super fun to learn from other dogs how to be the best puppy I can be! I am going to grow up to be something special! I feel my feelings lots. I'm growing in my confidence and the people caring for me here at Desert Haven tell me that they love watching me blossom. I'm like a pretty flower opening up before their eyes! Come see for yourself! Love, Lacy
