My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
This pet was brought in by a community member.

At SDHS:
This pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered. This pet is now ready for their new home!

Why this pet is the one for you:
Rocky, with a really big head and dainty fine feet. Together they make an endearing package. Rocky is a vocal guy who is letting us know that he is so ready to go to a quiet home where he can relax, get pampered and love his family. He wants attention and pets but then when he gets them, he sometimes backs off. That is not uncommon in a shelter environment. We will help you with tips and tricks for Rocky to build his self confidence and learn to trust without fear. We can't guarantee that he will give up totally on the barking so better that he live in a place where he will not bother close neighbors. He will need lots of walks and adventures to use up some of his natural energy. A big protected outside space would be to his liking. A tranquil environment without lots of action and chaos will be better for Rocky. Rocky would like someone to show him how to be a brave, sensitive dog who will be loved and who will love in return. Could you be that someone? If so, come meet Rocky and see if he is the one for you. We hope so - so bring a leash just in case.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
