Meet Fancy The definition of don't judge a book by its cover! She came in to the shelter nervous and unsure of her surroundings, not sure what to think of people at first. Fancy is now starting to warm up to people and even gets confident once she goes up on a window sill that gives her remnants of what once was a home for her! She may seem shy at first in a cage but once you get her in a room and on your lap she's like putty! If you're lucky you could even hear her quiet purrs

As a potential adopter, you will be asked to fill out a questionnaire, speak with one of our adoption counselors and meet with the pet you are interested in. Small children and current pets may be asked to meet with the animal before sending him home. Adoption fees and more information may be found on our website at

Founded in 1891 and incorporated in June 1947, we are a non-profit organization focused on community and life saving. The staff and board of trustees are deeply involved and committed to all aspects of animal care and welfare. It is the mission of SJRAS to help pets in need through sheltering, adoption, education, spay & neuter and community outreach.
