August is a distinguished gentleman with a gentle heart and a special charm. At 14 years old, he's earned the right to a peaceful and loving retirement, and he's hoping to find a forever home where he can bask in affection and care.
August is a shy and reserved cat, particularly around men. It's clear from his behavior that he may have been primarily cared for by a female in his previous home, as he seems more comfortable around women. His interactions are more frequent and relaxed when his foster's wife is present, though he has shown some courage by coming to see his foster dad at night. Despite his initial shyness, August is incredibly friendly once he gets to know you. He adores being brushed and scratched, and his affectionate nature shines through once he feels safe.
August has severe cataracts, which means his vision is quite limited. He can see shapes but not much more. This makes him particularly sensitive to changes in his environment. His foster has noted that he gets anxious around strange noises, though he seems to get along well with their dog. Due to his vision issues, August's foster has kept him in an upstairs bedroom for his safety, as he may have difficulty finding his way around. Despite this, August showed his adventurous side by exploring the house when given the chance, though he did get a bit lost.
August has a unique sleep schedule. He tends to sleep during the day and is most active during the night. He may meow for attention occasionally, but it's usually manageable and has become a part of his endearing quirks.
August would thrive in a calm and understanding home where he can gradually adjust to his new surroundings. He would do best with someone patient who can offer him the time and space he needs to feel secure. A quiet environment with minimal loud noises and a safe, accessible space for him to navigate would be ideal. August's new family should be prepared for his nocturnal tendencies and appreciate the gentle companionship he has to offer.
If you're looking for a sweet, senior cat with a lot of love to give, August might just be the perfect addition to your home.
