Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Callie!
Callie or “Cal” is an approx 1-2 year old Australian Shepherd mix. Callie came to us from a high kill shelter down south where she sat for months on end with no interest. She ended up on the euth list for length of stay and we had to save her! We can’t understand why because she is the best dog! Callie is the friendliest, most loyal and intelligent dog. She is the perfect size at only 35 pounds with a beautiful Merle coat and stunning blue eyes. Callie is highly treat and toy motivated. She is very athletic and would excel in any hobby, sport or job. She is fostered with 4 other dogs and half the time we forget she’s even here because she’s so well behaved. Her off leash manners are on point and she has an amazing natural recall. She just wants to hangout with her human all day long! Her favorite thing to do is help with barn chores and run around the farm.
Callie is great with dogs of all ages and sizes, even puppies. She will play with the other dogs in her foster home at times, but she would rather play with her human! She’s more of a people’s dog than a dog’s dog. She doesn’t bother the horses/donkeys. She has chased the barn cats a time or two, but she wouldn’t hurt a fly. She is good with kids, but would do best with kids aged 5 and older due to her energy level at times. She is always game for a good adventure, but will also take a nap on the couch and has a nice “off switch” when you are ready to relax. Callie is great in the bath, on a leash, in public, and loves car rides. She adores affection, belly rubs and going for a drive to get a pup cup. She knows some basic commands like “sit”, “go lay down”, “off”. She will sleep in bed or on the floor. She is almost fully house trained. Her foster mom works 12 hour shifts, so Callie does use potty pads while she is gone, but is otherwise house/potty trained. We don’t expect any dog to hold their bladder for that long! Callie loves her humans so much she does have some mild separation anxiety and will sometimes pace/bark when left alone. She has not been destructive at all. She will go in a crate, but does best left in a room where she has more space. Callie is looking for an active household with someone who is home more than not. Possibly someone who works from home or is retired. We would love to see her go to a home with a farm or land for her to run around!
Callie is spayed, current on vaccinations/monthly prevention and microchipped. Callie’s adoption fee is $325 and she is currently fostered in Mount Carroll, IL. We are happy to transport for meet and greets with approved applications. If interested in adopting Callie, please complete our adoption application linked below (you may have to copy and paste the link into a new browser) or email us with any questions, thank you!
*All adopters must live within 180 miles of Mount Carroll, IL*
**Since most of our adoptable pets are found as strays or come from shelters with little to no history, we cannot guarantee breed or age. Breed and age are based on our experience, physical traits of the pet, as well as veterinarian advice.**
