My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Loves!

Loves is a two-year-old lab/pointer mix. Loves was dumped at a Loves gas station in Texas. She lived on her own for four months before she gave birth to 12 puppies and was brought into a kill shelter. That's where we stepped in. 11 of her puppies have found homes, now it's her turn.

Loves is a very sweet and spunky girl. The longer she's been with us, the more her true self has come out.

She is ok with kids but does not prefer to be around them. She has never been aggressive, you can just tell she's not comfortable. After her intro's are done with other dogs, she is good with most of them.

Loves is house and crate trained. Loves cannot live with cats.

Loves does have some puppy-ish behaviors (she's making up for lost time!), so she will need a family to continue her training and understand while we think she's an awesome dog, she has some personality.

We'd like Loves to move into a home with a decent sized yard (fence not required, she will jump a 4' fence). She's such a sweet and loving dog, after her rough start to life, living on her own with free roam, to a farm, we do not feel it's in her best interest to move into a apartment, condo, etc. We truly want Loves to continue to live her best life.

If you are interested in Loves, please fill out an application on our website and a volunteer will be in touch. https://foreverfido.org/adoptable-dogs/ If you email us through Adopt-A-Pet, you will be directed to do so before we speak with you. So, you will save time completing the application first.

Our adoption fee also covers a lot of post-adoption support, discounts on training, boarding and daycare to ensure a successful placement. Please see our adoptable dogs page for more information.

Additional adoption info

The dogs in our care will be adopted out with an updated vet exam, they will be up to date on their rabies (if of age), and DHPP. All dogs will also be microchipped and dewormed. If they are of age, they will also be altered. We do not do pediatric spays or neuters so a deposit is required at the time of adoption, once the dog is altered, the deposit will be returned.

Due to the American Veterinary Medical Association's recommendation to not spay/neuter dogs under 6 or 12 months depending on breed and our vets recommendation. Large-breed puppies under 6-months will not be altered prior to adoption but do require a deposit that will be returned once your dog is altered. Small breed and adults that are 6-months or older, will be done prior to adoption.

During the time spent at Forever Fido, all dogs will be socialized with many confident and social dogs of all ages, safely interact with kids of many ages, appropriately meet a variety of humans, start potty and crate training, and begin basic puppy manners including impulse control.
