Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Cinnabar is a male african soft fur rodent (not a domestic mouse, but they are similar) who was surrendered with a group of other african soft furs due to the owner no longer being able to keep them. They are all approximately 1.5 years old
African soft fur rodents can make great pets, though they are not as common as mice. They are social, and even the males do well in same sex groups. Cinnabar must go with at least one of his brothers- check out our other available listings. African soft fur rodents also make great companions for male mice. We offer a bonding service with our available male mice- just let us know and we are happy to bond a mouse/soft fur group for you!
African soft fur rodents love to chew so we recommend glass aquariums as the best secure housing for them. They will need more patience than mice with handling and they can be jumpier- they are not domesticated like mice are, and have only been in the pet trade for a few decades.
These boys are well handled and used to people. They will need patience and consistency to continue being friendly and handleable, but once they get used to you, you will fall in love with their antics. We often describe them as behaviorally similar to a mouse crossed with a gerbil. They love to dig in bedding, chew cardboard and other chews, and snuggle together in a big pile.
We can meet within 1 hour of Minneapolis for adoptions- potentially further, please inquire and we can discuss.
