If you see pets listed by a private owner, it means that they’re adoptable through Adopt a Pet’s Rehome program – the safe and reliable way to find a loving new home for your pet.
Murphy is a 3.5yr-old male (Beagle/Aus Shep/Collie mix,45-50lbs). He had his shots and has been neutered. He was originally adopted from Michigan Humane in 2021 (chipped). Was found as a stray in Detroit's Palmer Park area. The couple that found him could not keep him, so he was adopted by my family in April 2024. He was found to be heart worm positive and has gone through treatments in May and June. He is now in the 120-day waiting period before retesting (Dec). We were going to keep him, but have two other dogs that he does not get along with. Negatives: Can be spooked by loud/sudden noises like landscape equipment, vacuum cleaners etc., which may result in anxiety. Doesn't always get along with other dogs. Positives: Smart, trainable, likes to lounge, loves belly rubs and to be with his people. Is crate/house trained and sometimes howls at sirens (funny). He'd be good for an adult home (older children may be OK) with no other pets that can provide attention, training, and exercise.
