Guy is a feral-type juvenile pigeon with severely splayed legs, a problem that can develop from nutritional deficiencies and/or poor nesting substrate. His rescuer suspects he may have been hand-raised and then surrendered (perhaps due to the splaying) because of his immediate recognition and excitement over the crop needle she used to gavage feed him. When his foster picked him up from his rescuer, she had to bring him to work with her, which is where he was given his name, 'Guy Fieri,' by her boss, who thought the yellow baby floof on his head made him look like he had 'frosted tips.' Guy made an immediate impression on his foster (and her employers) because of his cheery personality. Because of his older age, correcting his legs at this point would be quite difficult, and initial attempts have been complicated by a number of factors. His foster is working closely with some very talented avian vets to give him the best possible outcomes. He is currently using a pigeon wheelchair in the day to allow his legs to rest without external forces acting heavily on them. Guy likes attention from his foster and vocalizes quite adorably when she approaches or pets him. He loves safflower seeds and lets out a huge, excited squeak any time some are placed in front of him. He is being tube fed at night with vet-guided supplementation to attempt to correct any nutritional deficiencies as he continues to grow and mature. It's very unclear what can and can't be done for this cutie's legs, but it's very clear that he is loving being pampered and doted on by his foster mom. He gets to spend supervised time with some pigeon buddies, which he seems to enjoy, but nothing makes him happier than snuggling with a friendly human. Please apply to adopt http://www.pigeonrescue.org/birds/apply-to-foster-or-adopt/
