My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Tulip is walking on a leash like a perfect dog and happily engaging in the outside world!!
Tulip is going to be an amazing family dog! She is a gentle girl whose breeds deceive the incredibly mellow disposition that she actually has. Little Tulip came down with us and was quite shy. She got over that at the foster home, and now loves to play with the other dogs in the house and enjoys getting pets. She is going to be a snuggler who follows your every command and loves you every day. She is gentle and goofy and is crate trained and house trained. She would prefer that she is the only dog in her new home, but is fine when she sees dogs on a walk or outside.

Tulip enjoys children almost more than anything; in fact, children are one thing that gets her tail wagging quickly, and feeling safe. She does play and run, and is fine letting other dogs know when she wants the toy or is done playing, and then just chills out and is thrilled getting loved in a home. She has been walking on a leash outside of the home and done very well, even in situations that may be loud or startling! We are so proud of her growth at her foster home! As she has been growing, she is getting long and lean, as seen in her pics. She would love to be your partner and sleep on your feet all day long after a walk or excursion!

More about this rescue

We are a dog rescue focused on the Pine Ridge and Rosebud Indian Reservations and the nearby border towns. At LightShine Canine we bring the heart of the Lakota and the needs of the dogs together. Our goal is to rescue stray, abandoned, injured or abused dogs on the Pine Ridge Reservation with the help of Lakota youth and adults working on sobriety...and to find these dogs forever homes. Our adoption fees help us continue to do this and to provide community outreach to Tribal members in the form of dog food, vaccines and spay/neuter. Our dog rescue work program is geared to ensure that the dogs we rescue and the Lakota who assist us with this dream are changed forever.
