In the mornings when the meds had mostly worn off and before his new dose kicked in I found him to be a much more loving, engaged dog. By Sunday evening and Monday morning he really didn't want to be away from me. He did amazingly well with the kids. The two and five year old loved cactus jack, and he was gentle and kind to them even while they were running around the house being loud and crazy. Cactus Jack's favorite thing was to curl up at our feet or on the couch next to us. He would follow us around the house to be near us but never jumped or was overly intrusive."
FOSTER TYPE: Healing and Comfort
FOSTER REASON: I am being treated for heartworms, so I will need a calm home to relax in due to being under exercise restriction while undergoing treatment. This means I will need to be a couch potato and go for leash walks only! My foster parent should be comfortable bringing me to the shelter periodically for scheduled vet appointments.

To adopt a pet from the SPCA of Texas, we not only help make love connections, but we then walk you through an adoption process that is geared to ensuring you and the pet are a great match. There is a contract to sign at the end of the process. Adoption fees are as follows:
Puppies 0-6 months: $150
Adult dogs 6 months or older: $75

The adoption fee includes age-appropriate vaccinations (which can include Rabies, Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvo, Parainfluenza and Bordetella), spay/neuter surgery, deworming treatment, initial heartworm preventative, a rabies tag, Free health examination within fourteen days of the adoption thanks to our partnership with VCA Animal Hospitals, a leash and a microchip. Dogs over 6 months of age are also given a heartworm test (SNAP occult). Free week of training through Good Pup.
