My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Hatch Date: Approx 2014

Lovey is a 10-year-old presumed male (He is DNA-sexed), GreenCheek Conure.

Lovey is hand-tame and will step up on your finger once he is bonded with his owner and on his terms. He is a sweet loving bird that craves interaction and attention and when given a bond will form quickly.
It took us about 2 weeks, my husband a little less. Lovey prefers taller males but came around to me fairly quickly ( I feed him!!)

Lovey will sit on our shoulder and he lets us pet him.
He loves to cuddle in our necks and hair.
He did nip us pretty hard a few times while getting to know and trust us now it
is a gentle warning to 'leave me alone'

Lovey is on a seed diet but we are working on transitioning to pellets.
He loves fresh fruit, watermelon, cantaloupe, and bananas are just some of his favs.
Not a fan of veggies so far but we are working on that.
He prefers his treats and will let you know with some very loud calls....
'hey I'm over here in need of a treat'

Lovey is out of his cage most of the day, with access to come and go as he pleases.
He likes to hang out on top of the parakeet's cage
(another pair of fosters) and look out the window.
He always needs supervision.

If not kept busy with toys and attention Lovey will chew home furnishings.
Lovey gets a daily bath in his water bowl. If you catch him, it is adorable.

Lovey is a great bird looking for a forever family to give him the love and attention he needs.
Lovey would be best placed with someone familiar with conure behavior and their funny ways.
He would also do best in a home with other birds, he came from a home with other conures and is now being fostered with parakeets in the home. He likes the bird-to-bird interaction
He may not be suited for a young family because of the attention he requires.

Lovey is being fostered in Haddon Heights, NJ
And will only be adopted to a forever home within driving distance.
We will NOT ship our birds.
For the Love of Birds is a group of dedicated foster homes throughout NJ and Eastern PA
We do not have a central location.
Lovey is living in a volunteer's private home;
We only allow approved applicants to make visits.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The adoption procedure begins with completing an adoption application and returning it to us. We will check your references and then call you for a telephone interview. While we check your references, we will ask that you review an educational power point presentation. After your application is approved, it is our policy that you visit with the bird(s) three times to have multiple interactions with them and give you time to consider the adoption and get ready for your new family member. There is an adoption fee for each bird.
