Abernathy may be shy, but she has a hidden sweet side for those who take the time to earn her trust. When first arrived she was a nervous and was known to be a door dasher. She's gotten out of the habit of sprinting away and will instead hide in her cubby, enjoying the peace and quiet. She often spends time in her quiet space when not in the mood for attention, but when she is, Abernathy will accept gentle pets on her cheek and head from the back-scratcher. Occasionally though, you might get to pet her with your hand if you're taking it slow and letting her adjust to your presence. Her ears might be back but she appreciates the affection!
Abernathy would thrive in a quiet and calm home with experienced cat owners who understand the needs of a shy cat. She will require a patient guardian who will give her the space she needs to feel secure. A home without small children or other pets would be ideal, as a peaceful environment is what she needs to truly blossom!
